SCI-FEST LA:  The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival

Co-founded by actor, David Dean Bottrell (“Boston Legal”) and veteran Los Angeles theatre producers, Michael Blaha and Lee Costello, SCI-FEST LA: The Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival debuted in May, 2014.  This first-of-its-kind annual festival offers audiences two rotating evenings of new, professionally produced, 15-minute sci-fi plays - all performed live on stage.   In addition to the producing many original scripts by up-and-coming writers, the Festival has also produced stage works by legendary Sci-Fi authors like Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Ursula Le Guin and Ray Bradbury.   The Festival has continued to garner rave reviews and features many well-known actors from iconic sci-fi franchises such as “Star Trek,” “The Walking Dead,” “The X-Files,” “Supernatural,” “Lost,”  “Grimm,” “Heroes,” “Fringe,” “The Hunger Games,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “True Blood.”

“Sci-Fest is a hugely ambitious and creatively

compelling festival.”  - Press Pass LA

“Such a thrill for me. Great cast! I saw this tonight. It's

WONDERFUL. Funny, imaginative, great cast, and so

well done.  See it” -- Neil Gaiman, Via Twitter, May 8, 2015

"A wondrous celebration of all things the genre can be,

Sci Fest L.A. is a gem of a festival... Equal parts frightening,

hilarious and sick... quiet, intimate, spooky, mind-bending

stage plays. Something for everybody indeed.

Rod Serling would've loved it."  -- The Huffington Post

“Sci-Fest Boldly Goes Where Few Have Gone Before: Putting Sci-Fi Onstage.  In theatricalizing a genre well represented on film and TV, the one-act festival highlights the form’s unique storytelling value. Top-notch stagecraft creating the illusion of paralysis fields, blasters, alien invaders, moonlit revenants and fairy-tale detectives...plenty of laughs and scares, big ideas and intimate character moments, social commentary, and at least one “BEM” (bug-eyed monster).”

“I unabashedly urge you to purchase your tickets immediately for Sci-Fest LA 2015. In its second year, this sci-fi-focused show continues to excel and impress when it comes to original and meaningful storytelling, talented performances, and redefining audiences’ conceptions of what a stage production can be. Sci-Fest LA continues to be an out-of-this-world experience and another step in science fiction's acceptance by mainstream audiences and popular culture.”
